ABOUT

Seeds of Promise is a Christian nonprofit organization whose main aim is to fight extreme poverty through sustainable farming, promoting better nutritional choices and entrepreneurship training for the youth in Malawi. Seeds of promise is based in Lilongwe with 50 acres of farm and a city office where the entrepreneurial training happens.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world with over 50% of the population living below the poverty line and 25% living in extreme poverty. Malawi is a youthful population with 70% of its people under the age of 35. Malawi has a high rate of population growth as compared to other countries and is characterized by limited poor social services like Education, health care and Agricultural services. Most children eat by chance not by choice and are malnourished. Most youths are unemployed which has become a source of the increase in crime rate. The youth are surviving not living.

OPPORTUNITIES

Malawi also is known as the warm heart of Africa named after people’s warmth and friendliness has a youthful population which can be trained and equipped as human resource for the development of the country. It has natural resources like lakes, rivers, mountains, good topography which can contribute to food sustainability.

To fight extreme poverty by growing and providing food for vulnerable kids to our partnering ministry and surrounding communities,

To train and equip the youth through social economic programs for self-sustainability and community transformation.

To create an environment where kids and youth can be transformed spiritually, socially, emotionally and academically to realize there full life potential (character development).

OUR PROGRAMS

YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP

We train young people with business and sewing skills so that they can be able to start, develop and run a successful business for self-sustainability and community transformation.

Trained 35 youth and 10 youth funded with startup loans
2017-2018
20 youth and 10 women trained

25 youths being trained.

OUTREACH

We create a safe environment for kids and youth to learn Gods word and inspire to pursue their Education dreams hence attaining their desired success. Activities include Bible lessons, Educational motivational talk, sports, and games. We provide snacks and drinks to our kids during our programs.

We are reaching out to 350 kids every week.

FARMING

We grow food to feed vulnerable children and use the farm to train the upcoming generation of the modern ways of farming.

  • 50 acres purchased for farming
  • Greenhouses constructed winter crops.
  • 200 backs harvested
  • Planted two acres of ground nuts.
  • We have planted about 1 acre of sweet potatoes

GIRLS PROGRAM

We have 23 girls being mentored as we believe women have the power to transform society.

Tailor Training

The Tailor Training program goes for a whole school year. Qualifying students are trained how to create garments but also, more importantly, provided with entrepreneurship and spiritual training. The students are given opportunities to serve the children in the village every Friday through organizing games and bible studies.
